Buy the remote control did not fit into our project as all exterior lighting is on a comuterized timer. I just built a TimberTech composite deck, and was looking for a light that would enhance my project. So I needed to remove that feature. The internet brought this product to my attention. What a great looking product, and have been receiving compliments from all our visitors. I have photo's and information on how you can do that yourself. [.].
I had a small deck built on one side of my backyard (10.5'x15') to place a conversation set on and maybe a couple of chairs. I purchased these lights and had the builder install them around the two sides that are visible. They are really nice and work with a remote control. They are bright, but not to bright :)
I, too, had a problem with having the remote control getting the system out-of-sync - turning one set off and not the other set, so I just set them in the on position and put in a timer - like one other reviewer. The whites (the ones I have) are the hardest to get. I bought four sets of these in June 2008 and installed them in two groups (so I have two transformers left over). Nice.My neighbors are so envious. You find a product that you like and would suggest to a friend and they discontinue it. It works just fine. Thankfully, they are still available through various channels but that will only be temporary.
I will probably buy another 2 sets (if not more) for replacement elements and possible expansion. The 40 lights on my new composite deck look great - on risers and on deck next to posts around the perimeter. You can find the blue sets for less than $50 but not so for the white. The system does not reset to off when power is lost. Not only was the system easy to hook up, not only has it worked flawlessly since they were installed last July, but it is a gorgeous system and provides the perfect touch to my deck. There is only one problem - Philips decided to discontinue the product. Doesn't it figure, though. For that, I give Philips Corp 1 star - for creating a great product but not having enough sense to keep it around.
I installed the Philips Aurelle light kit on my deck this summer. They're the perfect brightness to light up my steps (they're a medium or so brightness). They were so freakn easy to install. No stripping wires, just insert them into cool included splicing connectors and presto. I love the fact they flush mount and are non-obtrusive, like mini recessed lights. If you're apprehensive about wiring at all. these deck lights are for you.
We are very pleased with Philips Aurelle 10 LED Deck Light Kit, White deck lights and hope to add more soon.
